How to use the gradient tool and gradient editor in photoshop to create different types of gradients and save them for future use. In this video we explore the gradient editor by starting with an existing gradient and applying custom colors and use color midpoints to create different gradient effects.
Gradients are a powerful feature of photoshop for creating many different graphics and backgrounds. The gradient tool, how it is applied combined with using the gradient editors features can achieve many unique and different gradients.
If you spend much time creating your own custom gradient and want to save it for future use, it is important to know the difference between the Save and New buttons in the gradient editor. If you use the New button, you can save that gradient swatch to your gradient picker for future use. That swatch can get lost however, should you replace the gradients in your picker by loading a new gradient preset or should your photoshop preferences get damaged. The Save button in the gradient editor allows you to save many swatches at the same time for future use. This is good if you are creating a project with many files and need to use your own custom color scheme.
